Technology

http://www.edgarsnyder.com/car-accident/cell-phone/cell-phone-statistics.html

How many of you honestly send one text during driving? I know I do sometimes, but I wont be after reading this. Here are some of the facts from the article;

  • In 2012, 3,328 people were killed in distraction-related crashes.
  • About 421,000 people were injured in crashes involving a distracted driver.
  • In 2012, 11% of drivers under age 20 involved in fatal accidents were reported to be distracted at the time of the crash.
  • One-fourth of teenagers respond to at least one text message every time they drive and 20% of teens and 10% of parents report having multi-message text conversations while driving.
  • Talking on a cell phone while driving can make a young driver's reaction time as slow as that of a 70 year old.
  • Answering a text takes away your attention for about five seconds. That is enough time to travel the length of a football field.
  • Studies have found that texting while driving causes a 400% increase in time spent with eyes off the road.
Even if technology has improved relationships, it has ruined drivers. Half the people on the road text and drive. I thought i would share this to put the "awe" it did into me.

Never take for granted good days

When you think your day cant get any worse, you are usualy right, right?
So after having a horrible day with the bank, and then fighting with my boyfriend over something stupid. So, I decide to go to the laundry mat with a friend, help her with kaundry and get my mind of things. That did help, everyine knows its nice to be able to vent to someone. So we finish the laundry , and we part our ways. Im at the light in the left hand turn lane; IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION, and the light turns yellow, so i turn... what was i supposed to do? Stay in the middle of the intersection? I think not! I make it probably half a mile and what do i see....?
All that runs through my mind is
" you have got to be F'n kidding me"
So I pull over, as im supposed to. He gets out of his car and goes on insisting that I ran a red light. I dont argue because most know that that doesnt get you anywhere, and even if you are right; it is their word over yours. F'd up, I know, but thats America for you.
But anyways, he comes up to the window,
"licence... registration... proof of insurance"
We all know the drill, I already had my licence out, and I hand it to him. I open the glove box, and start to go through all the random stuff in there looking for the other 2 artifacts that i NEED. What do you know though, neither are in there. Like everyother girl, what do I start to do? This.....

So now the thought of me getting a stupid ticket for " running a red light" is there and now I have the thought of me going to jail. The cop comes back and hands me a ticket for " no current proof of insurance" and writes me a warning for the red light. In all it could have ended worse then it really did.All I have to do is take my proof, ( which was on my kitchen table because I just got new insurance cards) and show it to the court. No ticket or increase in my insurance but the whole point of this is we all have bad days,so when your having a good day, really appreciate it; because life is shitty.

The big world

Watching the small clip from Wall-e honestly put a smile on my face. I have honestly never seen the movie so it was all cute. My reaction to this clip wasn't very shocking though. I feel what Pixar is trying to do is predict how they see how the future will be. Everyone will be over weight and will be using electronics to do literally EVERYTHING. When the man fell out of his floating chair he couldn't even stand uo and get back into it. This scene very well related to today. People are becoming more and more lazy since the up rise of technology. Plus the population is becoming more obese as fast food gets cheaper and more greasier and modified...

Who is excited for summer?

I know that there is still what, 8 more weeks of school left; but I am more them excited for Summer vacation. Not only because I will get to sleep in, but i am actually going to do a lot of things.

For the most part im going to your typical places like California; go to Disneyland and the beach. Also going to Pittsburgh to visit some family ( that's typical for me,) but this summer I'm going to also visit Vegas. It is my first time ever going, plus I will be going to EDC, which stands for Electric Daisy Carnival.

It is a 3 day carnival that goes from 6pm to 6 am.Approximately they let in around 200,000 people. Hundreds of dj's off all different types of "electronica" music produsuers come and there is also rides and carnival type amusment. I persoally really ejjoy EDM, so this all makes me super excited. Plus I am going with a Huge group of friends of mine that I have had mostly since elementary school.
